Let Him In

Performance.

That is what is it all about in our world.

I have a new audiobook that I am narrating with someone else. I play and narrate all the chapters labeled for him. Easy so far.

He is a widower, a father, single parent and he's fed up.

Trying to add all the "shades" of this character is tough.

I can relate to the "Father" type because I am a father.
I can relate to being fed up because I have, often, been fed up.
I can imagine what it is like to be a single parent.
I can imagine what it is like to be a widower.

He is fed up, sad, and still grieving and I see him as an open wound.

I am really trying to make this character relatable. There are places in the story where he is briefly happy. There are places where is in a bad place.

You have to remember even in the hardest times, there are shades of light.

I am trying to make him human.
